Learn how and when to apply to the String Academy and what is required from applicants.
Students of Finnish music institutions are eligible to apply to the String Academy. Selection requires exceptional skill in playing one's instrument, motivation for professional-level studies, and a willingness to commit to the String Academy’s activities. There is no age limit for applying to the String Academy. Students are admitted for one year at a time.
The application process may consist of two stages, such as an entrance exam and an interview. Detailed information about the application process is published on this website when the application period for the respective academy is open.
The lead teachers of the String Academies are responsible for the application process and student selection. For additional information, you can also contact the String Academy via email at jousiakatemia@gmail.com.
Please note that during the application phase, the String Academy does not cover any costs incurred by the applicants.
Applications Open for the Violin Academy and Viola Academy in Spring 2025
The Violin Academy and Viola Academy, which provide additional training for talented young violinists and violists, are seeking new students through trial lessons. Trial lessons will be held in spring 2025 at the Porvoo Region Music Institute (Kaivokatu 37, 06100 Porvoo).
Violinists interested in the program are requested to submit an pplication via this link by January 30, 2025.
Violists interested in the program are requested to submit an application via this link by March 1, 2025.
The application should include a brief description of the applicant's previous studies and current repertoire, as well as a recommendation from their current teacher. Accepted applicants will receive detailed instructions via email.
