Emilia Lappalainen

Emilia Lappalainen (born 2006 in Haapajärvi) is studying viola under Annariina Jokela and violin under Päivyt Meller at the youth program of the Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki. At the Viola Academy, Emilia receives instruction from Anna-Kreetta Gribajcevic and Lilli Maijala. She also studies violin at the Oulu Conservatory under Maarit Karppinen. Emilia began studying violin at the age of 5 at the Jokilaakso Music Institute, where her teachers were Tomasz Orzech and Janne Jääskelä. Emilia has also received teaching from Emiliano Travesino, Réka Szilvay, Mi-kyung Lee, Janne Malmivaara, Petri Aarniola, and Jari Valo, among others.

Emilia has performed with the Central Ostrobothnia Chamber Orchestra, the Haapavesi Chamber Orchestra, the Young LuostoClassic Orchestra, and as a soloist at Oulu Festival in November 2024. She has orchestra experience with groups such as Concertgebouworkest Young in the Netherlands, the European Youth Orchestra Academy in Germany, the Vivo Symphony Orchestra, and the Haapavesi Chamber Orchestra.

Emilia has received financial support for her music studies from the Finnish Cultural Foundation's Northern Ostrobothnia Fund, the Central Ostrobothnia Foundation, the Sibelius Academy Support Foundation, the City of Haapajärvi, and Keskipiste-Leader ry.
