Emma-Riina Aho (b. 2004) began playing the violin at the age of 6 at the Oulu Conservatory under the guidance of Tuuli-Maria Kämäräinen. Later, she moved to study with Mervi Kyrki and completed her basic music studies in Oulu under the mentorship of Maarit Karppelin. In 2024, Aho started professional studies in music at the Helsinki Conservatory and the University of the Arts Helsinki, Sibelius Academy, in classical music instrument studies under Janne Malmivaara. She has also complemented her education by attending masterclasses with Reka Szilvay, Päivyt Meller, Jari Valo, François Pineau-Benois, and Alexander Gordon.
Aho has been a part of the Violin Academy since 2022. She participated in the Juhani Heinonen Violin Competition in 2022 and has performed at the Oulu Music Festival and Hailuoto Music Days. Aho is a versatile musician and has played in various chamber music ensembles and orchestras, including the Oulu Chamber Orchestra, Oulunsalo Ensemble, Orkester Norden, and Helsinki Concordia. Aho has received support for her music studies from the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
