Ruusu-Talvikki Heikkilä

Ruusu-Talvikki Heikkilä (born 2014) started playing the cello at the age of four at the Joensuu Conservatory.

Currently, she is studying under Tuomas Ylinen at the Porvoo Music Institute. Ruusu was selected for the Cello Academy at the age of seven. At the Cello Academy, her teachers have included Tuomas Lehto, Marko Ylönen, Senja Rummukainen, Sennu Laine, Torleif Thedéen, Young Chan Cho, and Natalie Clein. Ruusu-Talvikki's cello studies have been supported by the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation and the Finnish Cultural Foundation.

Ruusu also plays in the Helsinki Strings – Helsinki Junior Strings orchestra and sings in the Candomini choir.

The young cellist has performed as a soloist with the FiBo Orchestra in Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Violins and Cello, in Joensuu's Evangelical Lutheran Church in 2021, as well as in the Taituri! competition at the Joensuu Conservatory in 2021.

Ruusu has held performances in Porvoo museums as part of the "Museon Musikantit" summer music series for guests and museum visitors. In the summer of 2023, Ruusu performed at the Joutsenon Art Summer opening concert, as well as in a broadcast of the Mass from Viinikkala Church by Yle Radio 1. In January 2024, Ruusu-Talvikki performed at a Tampere Chamber Music concert in Tampere, and in Vantaa at the Martinus Hall with the wind orchestra Louhen, in the "Lauantain Toivotut" concert. In the summer of 2024, Ruusu performed, among others, at the Naantali Music Festival in the Jousiakatemia concert, and at the Alber Edelfelt Museum in the Jousiakatemia concert series.
