Alma Stupak (born 2006) started playing the cello at the age of 6 at the Oulu Conservatory under Kati Valkama and continued studying with Lauri Laitinen. In the fall of 2023, she began her studies at the Sibelius Academy’s Youth Department with Tuomas Lehto. At the Cello Academy, Alma has been studying since the fall of 2022 with Tuomas Ylinen and Tuomas Lehto. Guest teachers at the academy have included Torleif Thedéen, Natalie Clein, Arto Noras, and Marko Ylönen.
Alma has competition experience from the Salo Cello Competition (2019) and the Porvoo Cello Competition (2021, 2024), where she reached the finals in both 2021 and 2024. Alma was the soloist in the 2024 Radio Symphony Orchestra’s Young Soloists concert. Other significant performances include concerts at the Kamarikesä Festival, Kaustinen Chamber Music Week, and the Oulu Music Festival. Alma is an active orchestral and chamber musician and a member of the Sinfonia Orchestra VIVO.
Alma has participated in several masterclasses and received instruction from Marko Ylönen, Joona Pulkkinen, Tuomas Ylönen, Claudio Bohórquez, and Maria Kliegel. The Finnish Cultural Foundation has supported Alma’s studies.
